Comedian Perry Kurtz, known for his unforgettable audition on America’s Got Talent, tragically passed away at 73 in a hit-and-run accident, reports Deadline.
On Thursday night, law enforcement sources told TMZ that Kurtz was hit by a car and pronounced dead at the scene. A suspect has been arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run causing death.
During the ’70s and ’80s, Kurtz was a familiar face in comedy clubs all over the country. In 2013, he auditioned for America’s Got Talent as a 62-year-old “ex-male stripper” and performed a freestyle rap about the judges. The audience didn’t like it, and judges Howard Stern, Heidi Klum, and Mel B all voted “no.”
Kurtz became an internet sensation similar to William Hung. In 2018, he appeared on CBS’ The Late Late Show With James Corden and performed “Louie Louie” on his keytar using only his tongue. This time, he received a much warmer response from Corden and the audience.
Fans always find it sad when someone with such a unique talent leaves us too soon.
