A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms Renewed For Season 2 Ahead Of Premiere

HBO has renewed A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms for a second season — nearly two months before the Game of Thrones prequel series is set to premiere.

The upcoming fantasy drama, based on George R.R. Martin’s “Tales of Dunk and Egg” novellas, received an early vote of confidence from the network as it prepares to expand its Westeros universe.

“We’re thrilled with how this new chapter in the ‘Game of Thrones’ story has come together,” said Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, in a statement Thursday. “The world created by George R.R. Martin continues to captivate viewers, and we’re confident audiences will embrace these new characters and their journey.”

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is set approximately 100 years before the events of Game of Thrones and follows the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey) and his squire, Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell), who is secretly Aegon Targaryen, a future king of Westeros.

The series is executive produced by Martin alongside Ira Parker, Ryan Condal, and Vince Gerardis.

This marks the third active series in the franchise following House of the Dragon, which recently concluded its second season, and the upcoming Jon Snow sequel series still in development.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms premieres June 15 on HBO and will stream simultaneously on Max.
