The 126 team has fought their last blaze. The fifth season of 9-1-1: Lone Star will be its final chapter, as confirmed after weeks of speculation.
Although fans might be bummed out by this news, hints have been dropping for a while. Rumors started back in June when Sierra McClain announced she wouldn’t return as a regular. Many cast members shared mysterious posts on social media while wrapping up Season 5, making it clear they didn’t expect to come back for another season.
“From the start, fans have followed the heroic and deeply moving stories of the men and women who make up Austin’s 126, so a huge thanks to one of the greatest creative teams in all of television — Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear — for creating one of the most action-packed dramas anywhere,” Fox President Michael Thorn said in a statement on Thursday. “Now in our final season of the show, we’re set to give it the high-stakes send-off it deserves, complete with breathless rescues, insurmountable odds and relatable personal struggles, thanks to our incomparable, stellar cast led by Rob Lowe and Gina Torres.”
Deadline reported that Lone Star won’t be moving to ABC like its parent series did. However, there’s talk about possible new spinoffs set in places like Las Vegas.
The main cast features Rob Lowe as Owen Strand and Gina Torres as Tommy Vega. Other stars include Ronen Rubinstein as TK Strand, Jim Parrack as Judd Ryder, Natacha Karam as Marjan Marwani, Brian Michael Smith as Paul Strickland, Rafael Silva as Carlos Reyes, Julian Works as Mateo Chavez, Brianna Baker as Nancy Gillian, and Kelsey and Skyler Yates as Tommy’s twin daughters.
The fourth season ended with TK and Carlos getting married. The two-part finale was emotional because Carlos’ father was murdered just before their wedding day. Both grooms had to say their vows without one parent present.
We all know how much this show means to its fans.
The final season will have 12 episodes starting on Monday, Sept. 23 at 8/7c. The series finale is expected in early 2025.
