Nowadays, VR games don’t seem like such a miracle of technology anymore. Still, not so long ago, we couldn’t imagine it would be possible to get into our favorite game universe almost literally – at least to create a convincing experience. So, in our opinion, we have compiled a list of the best virtual reality games for PC, PS, and Xbox goggles.

Today, more and more games are being integrated into VR. It also applies to the casino gambling sector. Soon, it will be possible to play Live at Bollywood in virtual reality. The same applies to entertainment like Teen Patti and Andar Bahar. But if you want virtual reality games here and now, then you can choose from such categories:

  • Simulators;
  • Action;
  • Mind-breakers.

Microsoft Flight Simulator

Microsoft Flight Simulator is one of the longest-running series of games for PC: its first part was released in 1982! As a result, this franchise is particularly appreciated by fans of flight simulators.

The newest part of the series, which saw the light in 2020, was developed by Asobo Studio in tandem with Microsoft and has attracted a new generation of fans.

All thanks to the fact that the simulator represents the entire surface of planet Earth: all countries, cities, and airports – textures and topographic data from Bing Maps were used for this.

Thus, it is worth noting an extraordinary level of realism. In addition, let’s highlight the use of accurate data, such as the exact time, weather, and traffic, many flight settings and aircraft models, and additional test modes.

Star Wars: Squadrons

Star Wars: Squadrons is a first-person space simulator based on the “Star Wars” universe that was developed after the sixth episode of the movie epic.

The story revolves around two warring sides, the New Republic and the Galactic Empire. The player gets to choose one of them and fly a fighter.

It is worth noting the experience points system: as the player passes, he can unlock new weapons for his ship, shields, improvements, and different cosmetic items for the pilot and the fighter.

As for virtual reality, Star Wars: Squadrons supports all significant headsets (Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality). In addition, VR mode allows you to fully immerse yourself in the pilot’s seat and go through the game in virtual reality!

Elite: Dangerous

Elite: Dangerous is the fourth installment in the Elite series of space simulators and one of the first genuinely large-scale space simulators with virtual reality support for Steam VR glasses.

During development, the creators tried to keep the main elements from the previous games.

It’s worth noting that the game’s release process was quite tricky, and the developers even had to turn to crowdfund – using the project on Kickstarter, the guys from Frontier Developments managed to raise the necessary amount.

Overall, Elite: Dangerous has an excellent picture and is one of the biggest worlds. Let’s also highlight the controls and physics.

As for virtual reality, it is implemented quite well: with the helmet, you can enjoy a colorful journey through endless space expanses with maximum immersion.

Falcon Age

Falcon Age is a single-player first-person action-adventure about a rebel girl named Ara and her tame falcon. Here the players will have to fight against the army of robots that have invaded the heroine’s homeland.

It’s an exciting and emotional mix of action and a pet care simulator with an intriguing story and pretty graphics.

Separately, I would like to highlight the interaction with the falcon in VR mode, which will provide an unforgettable experience!

No Man’s Sky VR

No Man’s Sky is a relatively popular open-world space action-adventure game with survival elements. Right after the game’s release got a tremendous amount of criticism, but after a while, the developers released a significant update that fixed many bugs and errors.

In gameplay, players will have to explore outer space and planets, mine resources, interact with various extraterrestrial life forms, fight enemies, and develop and improve their ships.

In 2019, the developers decided to release a VR mode, which allows you to immerse yourself in the space adventure with a first-person view.

The Wizards

The Wizards is a VR-exclusive game entirely dedicated to magic. Players will have to immerse themselves in a beautiful fantasy world and destroy enemies by casting spells with gestures!

There are 11 spells in total, but it’s pretty hard to cast them. So, you will indeed feel like a real magician! Plus, there are plenty of different ways to interact with your surroundings and challenge battles.

Beat Saber

In the last years, there were instead many rhythmic actions, but the developers from Hyperbolic Magnetism were able to present us with something cool. Besides, who wouldn’t want to swing lightsabers, at least virtually?

The essence of the game is straightforward – you have the blue and red swords, and the blocks of the same color are coming at you with breakable speed. Of course, it would help if you smashed them with an appropriate colored sword trying not to lose sight of the other objects. Rhythmic music helps keep you on track and gets you in the mood.

The Talos Principle VR

The Talos Principle VR is an ultra-popular first-person philosophical sci-fi puzzle game released in 2014.

Here the player finds himself in the role of a robot with the beginnings of a human mind, and he has to solve various puzzles and explore the surrounding world, which combines features of an ancient civilization and modern advanced technology.

A little later, the developers decided to release a new version of the game for virtual reality. Thus, The Talos Principle VR was released in 2017, allowing you to play the game in VR mode.

Keep Talking, and Nobody Explodes

Keep Talking, and Nobody Explodes a puzzle game designed for at least two people. The task is to defuse an explosive device: the first player interacts with the bomb, trying to defuse it in the allotted time. In contrast, the second one reads and passes all the necessary information from the bomb-defusing manual.

As for virtual reality, the game is available for all headsets (both regular and mobile).

The developers of this game have created such a rich and beautiful world that VR laid on it like a native. Obduction is very much like Myst, only with fancy graphics and in virtual reality.

Those familiar with Myst will find Obduction’s gameplay straightforward: the player jumps in space, looks around, collects the necessary objects, and solves various tasks. And all this happens in a realistic and well-thought-out world.
