Back in the day, women who were under suspicion that they were dating younger men were looked down on. People couldn’t wrap their minds around that. What can a younger male want and need from a much older female?

Today, we know that men crave cougars. Something is appealing and attractive about an older lady who knows what she wants in life. Men’s fantasies aren’t only about having sex with a more experienced individual. They are overwhelmed with girls their age who only talk about looks, make-up, and where to go shopping. Males are fed up with those things and want a woman with attitude and experience.

Cinema copies real life. No wonder numerous movies revolve around cougar relationships. We’ll show you our short list of best movies on that subject. Read on and learn about cougars, how to approach them, and which movies help you understand that type of relationship dynamics.

The Connection between Mainstream Media and Online Dating

Cougar relationships are experiencing a big ‘boom’ in the mainstream media and real life. With more and more movies about cougar dating, the public’s opinion about it changes. Media shapes people’s minds and how they see certain things, so it’s not exaggerated when we say that the entertainment industry has the power in its hands.

Many subjects covered in movies or TV series became normal or were hot topics people talked about. The conversation is where change begins, and the media knows that. That’s why they cover taboo topics and situations – so people can speak, journalists can write, and, hopefully, the change can begin.

Dating sites are replicating the situations (like movies do) in the dating sphere, so there are numerous dating sites just for cougar dating. Since dating a cougar became common, the user base on dating sites has been growing.

Some males spend most of their time wondering: are there any horny moms near me looking for fun? Of course, there are even more than they know. With dating sites, finding a hot cougar has never been easier. Those sites use advanced filters where a person can be detailed when finding their ideal match. If they want to date locally or abroad, they’ll put those criteria in the filter and be matched accordingly. Another feature that can help users to have better matches is the Swiping game. By swiping offered accounts, users give valuable information about their preferences. Algorithms use that data to go deeper when finding a potential match.

Now, prepare to learn a little bit about our favorite movies that have cougar relationships in their plots.

I Am Love (2009)

This Italian romantic drama (Io sono l’amore) is directed by Luca Guadagnino. This is the first part of Guadagnino’s, as he calls it, Desire trilogy (the other two movies are A bigger splash (2015) and Call Me by Your Name (2017)).

The lead role is played by Tilda Swinton, who co-produced the movie with Guadagnino. They’ve been developing it for over 11 years.

The story follows Emma Recchi (Swinton), chef Antonio (Edoardo Gabbriellini), and their affair. Through the movie, we can easily follow Emma’s sexual and self-awakening guided by Antonio’s youthfulness. Will this affair ruin Emma’s family and her husband’s name? Will she find happiness in simple things in life with Antonio?

We won’t spoil the movie for you; you’ll have to watch it and see for yourself.

Blue Velvet (1986)

Blue Velvet was named after the 1951 song of the same name and was directed by one and only David Lynch. In this movie, he combines psychological horror and film noir, an unusual movie combination.

The film stars Isabella Rossellini, Kyle MacLachlan, Laura Dern, and Dennis Hopper.

The movie follows a young student named Jeffrey, who returns to his hometown. While on his way to visit his sick father, he finds a human ear in the fields. He and his girlfriend (daughter of a police detective) decide to find out more about the ear. The lead leads them to a nightclub singer (Rossellini). The student followed her and found out that she wanted to submit him.

Jeffrey gets caught in a sexual and criminalistic web where he learns about himself and his desires.

This is a true masterpiece with an unexpected plot twist worth watching.

Blue Velvet earned Lynch’s second Academy Award nomination. In 2008, it was chosen as one of the greatest mystery movies ever made.

The Reader (2008)

This movie has it all – a love story between an older woman and a younger student, war, real-life situations, and many more. The Reader was the last film for producers Anthony Minghella and Sydney Pollack – they both died before the movie’s release.

The movie follows Michael Berg (Ralph Fiennes), a 15-year-old who starts a relationship with a much older woman, Hanna Schmitz (Kate Winslet). They haven’t seen each other for years, only to meet years later in a courtroom (he’s a lawyer). Michael finds out that Hanna was a guard at a Nazi concentration camp, and she’s been trialed for the deaths of Jews. During the trial, Michael realizes the truth that can prove Hanna’s innocence. Will he help her out or not? Was she responsible for the crimes? Please, watch this masterpiece and find out.

A Short Film About Love (1988)

This 1988 Polish romantic drama is directed by Krzysztof Kieślowski. The movie stars Grażyna Szapołowska and Olaf Lubaszenko.

The story follows a 19-year-old Tomek (Lubaszenko) living in an apartment complex in Warsaw. He’s been spying on his older neighbor Magda (Szapołowska) using his telescope. He focuses on her everyday tasks, not on her sexual life. Pretty soon, he becomes obsessed. After a while, he asks her on a date, and she agrees.

This is a European gem worth your time. It’s a little bit gloomy, that’s for sure, but worth watching.

This is the list of movies we’d love for you to watch. Or you can always play Yellowstone as relaxing background music while you cuddle. It’s up to you, as always.
