Best Comedy Movies Of All Times

Comedy movies can make us laugh and cry at the same time. Such is their power. With the world embroiled in multiple crises, we all need some time off. I for one want to turn a blind eye towards everything that’s happening around me. Some might see it as outrageously rude. But I just want to calm my mind a little. And, I’m sure, you want that too.  Of course, the best therapy I could think of is to watch a couple of comedy flicks on my Spectrum Gold package connection. I must add here that we take the internet for granted. If it wasn’t for the internet we would be doomed amid this pandemic madness. But, thanks to streaming services and search engines we can watch our favorite shows and movies.

With that in mind, I have compiled a list of some of the best comedy movies of all time. If you don’t catch your favorite flick on the list then don’t worry. You can tell me about it in the comment section below. Now, let’s begin.

Friday (1995)

Where to Stream: Prime Video

This cult classic inspired the now iconic DAAAAMMNNN meme. Gen Z will recognize the two from the meme but millennials know how awesome both Tucker and Cube were in the movie. Friday is not only hilarious but perfectly captures the stereotypical treatment of ghettos and the “hood” culture. Also, it features a banger in “Keep Their Heads Ringing” by former NWA member Dr. Dre.

The Big Lebowski (1998)

Where to Stream: Netflix

Did you know? Reviews for The Big Lebowski weren’t so great when it was released in 1998. However, the film went on to become a cult classic. Netflix got the rights to stream the film this year. The Big Lebowski stars Jeff Bridges as Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski. On top of being hilarious, the film features some iconic quotes. Fans of the film often use the entire quotes to communicate with each other. Safe to say The Big Lebowski is one of Bridges’ best works.

Napoleon Dynamite (2004)

Where to Stream: Hulu Plus

Fun Fact: Napolean Dynamite was filmed with a budget of just $400,000. It went on to make more than $46 million at the Box Office. HuffPost even did an article on the film’s 10th anniversary in 2014. Napolean Dynamite left an everlasting impact on the minds of those who watched it in their teens. It holds a special place in the hearts of many, including myself. I won’t spoil the plot of the film for those who haven’t seen it.

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004)

Where to Stream: Prime Video

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy features tons of hilarious dialogues and scenes. From Will Ferell yelling “I’m in a glass case of emotion!” to Paul Rudd saying “60% of the time, it works every time”, the film is exceptionally funny. Ferell plays the role of renowned anchor Ron Burgundy. Rudd, Steve Carell, and David Koechner star as his loyal associates.

The film cleverly captures sexism and misogyny in the male-dominated news industry. Christina Applegate stars as Veronica Corningstone, an ambitious reporter who succeeds in her dream of becoming a television presenter, much to the disdain of Ferell and his associates.

The Other Guys (2010)

Where to Stream: Netflix and Hulu

The Other Guys is one of the best comedy movies of the last decade. It follows the adventures of two disgraced cops (Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferell) as they attempt to bust a shady capitalist. If you’re looking for a buddy cop movie, then you should watch The Other Guys. Ferell plays the calm guy, a different approach to the ecstatic and energetic demeanor self we see in his other movies. Other cast members include Eva Mendes, Dwayne Johnson, and Sam L. Jackson.

This is the End (2013)

Where to Stream: Hulu

Real-life friends James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, and Jonah Hill play themselves in the film. Everything is going well at a party thrown by Franco for his celebrity friends until the world starts turning upside down (literally). After all, the apocalypse has arrived and the friends must find a way to escape the end of times.

This is the End is one of the best movies directed by Rogen and Evan Goldberg. If you’re a fan of Rogen’s other flicks like “The Pineapple Express” then you would definitely love This is the End. It features tons of celebrity cameos, from Michael Cera and Rihanna to the Backstreet Boys. So, grab yourself a bag of popcorns and a drink and enjoy this great flick.
